25/7/2008 Get your Stabilisers t-shirts and back catalogue at knockdown dollar prices! Wicked Cool are doing some dodgy deals for our stuff here. It's dead cheap, specially the t-shirt/2 CD deal. I mean, $23?! You can barely get a skinny decaff grande frappucino with cinammon sprinkles for that money over here. Must be the credit crunch... still, take advantage now, before they go bust.
COOLEST SONGS IN THE WORLD VOL 6 features 'Belinda'.... finally we get our turn on of these really quite good compilations. Have a look at the rather splendid promo video here...
22/4/2008 Rare first album now available via digital download... and of course on CD. Our first album 'Last Chance Saloon' from 2004, which never really had a proper release, has now been made available by Wicked Cool records. If you're an old Luddite and stil prefer owning a bit of plastic rather than some ones and zeros you can still get the CD as well. Although a CD is still ones and zeros... Bring back wax cylinders.
Download and CD are at bargain basement prices from the Wicked Cool Store.
And you can still by a variety of Stabilisers branded products from us here
4/4/2008 Are old style websites on the way out? We keep forgetting about this site - it's all Myspace these days. So if you're after a sneak preview of some new songs get over to our Myspace site.
But for those of you who are sticking with this, here's a couple of advance titbits:
Official Stabilisers/WickedCool/Underground Garage t-shirts are on the way..
All our back catalogue songs not available on the recent Wicked Cool compilation 'Wanna do the wild.....etc' will soon be available for download via I-Tunes. If you still hanker after old fashioned CDs and prehistoric vinyl write to us here - we still have some copies of the original releases. Have a look here
Some new and extra fawning reviews here. Who are we to argue?
3/1/2008 ...and back again without a scratch. Welcome to 2008. If we can overcome our ingrained laziness, we may try to be a little more busy this year. You, know, do a few more gigs, release a new album, conquer the USA, get a number 1, split up due to musical differences, reform at the O2 etc. On the other hand, why change a losing formula.
The New York trip was great. The Hawaiian Tropic Zone is not exactly a typical rocknroll joint, but it was a good night of ass-kicking (I believe that's the correct term) sounds with The Woggles and The Gripweeds. And the waitresses wear bikinis... just this side of tacky (or maybe that side), but it made dinnertime quite pleasant. We also played The Magnetic Field in Brooklyn, a small music bar just over the Brooklyn Bridge. More our sort of place really. Then it was straight off to the airport, pausing only to smash the window of our limo... no it wasn't a wanton act of 70's style rock aggression. The driver had locked us all out of the vehicle (including himself), we had a plane to catch, it was 4.30am, it was snowing...What's a self respecting punk/garage/rocknroll/mod band to do?
We've got some gigs coming up in Jan.....
9/11/2007
From Rochester to New York...
We've got a couple of gigs coming up in December. On Friday
7th we're cramming ourselves onto the tiny 'stage' (or
pool area) at the Nag's Head in Rochester. On Wednesday
12th we'll be swaggering onto the slightly bigger stage
of The Hawaiian
Tropic Zone in New York, USA.
A couple of reviews for
the new album here
'Belinda' was the 'Coolest
Song in the World' a few weeks ago...

A couple of songs recorded
live at the Dirty Water Club here
9/10/2007
We've been a bit lazy with this website recently...
So
here's a collection of little snippets of news for that
rare breed, the Stabilisers fan...
We did a gig at the Dirty Water Club and there's a video
of a couple of songs here
We've been in the studio a lot in the last few months...
recorded at least 15 brand
new songs for the next album, with some more on the way.
Probably looking at this time next year for that release,
but we can't switch off the creative flow. Those of you
who've come to any of our recent gigs will have heard
a few of these new songs. 'I feel like Jimmy White' seems
to be an early favourite.
We recorded a couple of Christmas songs...
one original and one cover,
for a projected Christmas album for Wicked Cool. It was
going to be this year, but everyone forgot that Christmas
starts in September these days. So it's been put back
until Christmas 2008. Look out for the big budget videos
as well.
We did an extended remix
of 'Love is Easy in the Summertime'....
but it got chucked. Shame. We liked it. You will however
see a new video for the original version of the song,
made by Wicked Cool, sometime. Although it may be next
summer.
So it looks like 2008 may be a busier year if these projects
all happen. And if we get our finger out and do some gigs,
so much the better!
ABSOLUTELY DEFINITELY THE
ALBUM RELEASE DATE!
Our first album for Wicked
Cool Records will be released on 7th August
2007. You can order it now from their website.
And 'Belinda' was Coolest Song in the World This Week
on Little Steven's Underground garage radio show 12/8/07.
It'll be on what I believe is called 'heavy rotation'
for a few weeks...
24/7/2007 We've got a track
on a compilation album....
Our old friends at Acid Jazz have a new compilation out
called 'Hipsters - A Collection Of Contemporary Mod and
Garage Bands'. You'll find '100 Year Old Riff' from our
first album on it. Are we a Mod or a Garage band? Who
knows...or cares... but we seem to fit in OK. It has a
picture of a scooter on the front. More details here
14/6/2007 - Date change
for Lounge on the Farm festival.
Our slot has been moved to Friday 13th July, 10pm on the
Sheep Dip Stage. Details here
8/6/2007 'NEW' ALBUM OUT
SOON!
'Why the inverted commas around 'new'' you ask... Or maybe
you don't. But we'll tell you anyway.
Next month (July) our debut album for US
based label Wicked Cool is released. It shares its
title with our previous release on Acid Jazz, 'Wanna
do the wild plastic brane love thing?', but it ISN'T
the same album! They just liked that title, and as the
old album will be deleted when the current pressing is
gone, it seemed OK to re-use it. And seeing as our resident
member of the landed gentry, Lord Corbey de Brockley,
is a keen advocate of re-cycling and saving the planet,
we thought it would be a good idea if we didn't contribute
to the growing problem of wasted words being dumped in
virtual landfill sites across cyberspace. Ever keen to
show our environmental credentials, we've also recycled
a few songs and dug up a few scandalously discarded riffs..
Enough of the waffle - the album was compiled by Little
Steven from our entire back catalogue. The 13 songs
chosen include material from 'Last Chance Saloon', the
EP 'Evil Picnic', the orginal 'Wanna do....' and some
previously unreleased songs which we'd forgotten about.
It was strange to have someone else choosing our songs,
but the choice and running order works. We think it's
the strongest album yet.
Meanwhile, we've started recording the next one.... |
